How to protect your eyes form UV rays ?

UV, short for Ultra Violet radiation that is produced by the sun. These radiations may seem harmless as it does not affect us in the short term but can damage to your eyes and skin .

In order to protect your eyes from radiation you have to use proper sunglasses. But first you need to find the right sunglasses which will ensure safety.

To protect your eyes, look for sunglasses that:

  • Block 99 to 100 percent UV rays
  • Screen out 75 to 90 percent of visible light
  • Have lenses that are perfectly matched in colour and free of distortions and imperfections
  • Have lenses that are gray for proper colour recognition

But before you go and grab just any sunglasses you should first consider and know about the pros and cons of the sunglasses that you’re choosing.

Here’s how to pick sunglasses that look good and protect your eyes.

Picking the right size: An ill fitting sunglass can let UV rays enter your eyes easily. So it is very important to have the right sized sunglass.

Polarized Lens: Polaroid is a material that reflects UV radiations which protects your eyes from UV exposure directly. Not a must factor but an important one .

Shade and colour: You can find many range of coloured glasses these days

But darker shade sunglass doesn’t means more protection or less color shade meaning less protection. It is a choice both offer the same amount of protection.

So should you buy a cheap sunglass or an expensive one?

The main thing is to find if it offers UV protection or not. The main problem with cheaper sunglass is they are usually  made up of ordinary plastic material with thin coating so it does not provide complete protection from the UV rays.

So it is sensible to carry a pair of sunglass with you rather than not having one at all.
